The First Lady of Motown – Claudette Robinson
7 07 2008Listen or read as Raven Blair Davis interviews ‘The First Lady of Motown”, Ms. Claudette Robinson.
Claudette Robinson is an original member of Motown’s first group, The Miracles, and former wife of R&B crooner Smokey Robinson. Smokey Robinson originally wrote the number-one Motown single “My Girl” in dedication to Claudette, a song performed most notably by The Temptations. Berry Gordy gave Claudette Robinson the official title of “First Lady of Motown”, as noted in his autobiography, since, as a member of The Miracles, she was the first female artist ever signed to a Motown-affiliated record label, Tamla.
Raven recently gave Claudette a call and asked for an ‘on the spot’ interview. It was no surprise to her when she warmly agreed and without any notice, the interview began.
